By City Council Resolution No. 33 of 20/06/2011, the Tourist Tax was established in the city of Florence and its regulations were approved, subsequently modified and supplemented by Resolutions CC No. 07/2014, No. 12 of 02/03/2015, No. 11 of 22/03/2016 and Resolution DG/2023/00056 of 22/02/2023. The Florence Tourist Tax applies to non-residents of the municipality of Florence, for a maximum of 7 consecutive stays, at a rate of €7.00 per person per night. The following exemptions also exist:

1. Minors up to twelve years of age;
2. People assisting patients admitted to healthcare facilities in the area, including day hospitals, with a maximum of 2 companions per patient;
3. Patients receiving hospital treatment as outpatients;
4. Students enrolled at the University of Florence;
5. Personnel belonging to the police force, the national fire service and civil protection who, due to the exclusive needs of the service, and limited to the duration thereof, remain in the accommodation facilities of the municipality.
6. The severely disabled, whose disability is certified in accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 3 of Law No. 104/92 and similar provisions of the countries of origin for foreign nationals.
7. Employees of accommodation facilities who stay there exclusively for work purposes. To benefit from the exemptions mentioned in points 2), 3), 4), 5), 6) and 7), those concerned must present the manager of the accommodation facility with a certificate, prepared in accordance with the provisions of Articles 46 and 47 of DPR No. 445 of 2000 and subsequent amendments.
